Ian started riding in earnest at the ripish age of 42 when he happened upon, what can best be described as, a bike with only a few pedal turns left in it. How Ian kept going for the next few years and even had he temerity to call it his 'Silver Dream Racer' is beyond belief.

His long suffering wife has somehow maged to tolerate his obsessions over the years. This one took over from his days as an inaccurate bowler and a murderous hockey player, much to the relief of the more refined games players of Suffolk.

He has kept diariies of all of his rides and has used these, to good effect, to give talks about his travels. Do contact him (if you dare) if you would like him to give a talk to your club or organisation. He has also written several books about his rides.

All his rides have ended up providing money for charities, ranging from Friends of the Earth to restoration funds for both the church and Village Hall in the village of Walsham-le-Willows in Suffolk.

Although Ian might be thought of as a 'One Trick Pony' he has been for many years the editor of The Walsham Observer, the village magazine, and has produced two compilations of poems and light verse as well a book of puzzles and calendars,

Just for fun he has produced a number of videos, some relating to his exploits on the bike, others to other fund raising activities.
